I figured out the basic components of a tape dispenser and found things I hadn’t thought to consider.

I looked at not only tape dispensers on the market but also home goods with clean styling.

​I started with basic forms and silhouettes to quickly ideate. I then dimensioned out the forms and chose the one I was most interested in developing further.

​From my sketch, I brought my idea into Fusion. I finalized the proportions and simple mechanisms.

​However, once I made a model of the tape dispenser and tested it, a couple of problems were made clear.

​Once my products dimensions were finalized, I moved onto the packaging. The graphics are simple orthographic view of the dispenser that are true to size.

The box is a simple full seal-end cardboard box with a zipper tear strip. The tear strip is lined up with the tape of the top orthographic view, reminiscent of the feeling of pulling on tape.
